Subsea Wi-Fi
Subsea (submersible 6000 m) compact 2.4GHz Wi-Fi radio transceiver with 3dBi antenna

Features:

  • High power, long range;
  • Waterproof for subsea and outdoor/indoor use, open face pressure rated connectors;
  • Portable design, easy maintenance, replace and upgrade;
  • POE (power over Ethernet) to transceiver, no losses on long RF cables;
  • Modes: bridge, access point or repeater. Wi-Fi transceivers in bridge mode are transparent for your network and passing all traffic seamlessly;
  • Zero downtime due to hardware failure;
  • Transceivers can be encapsulated into housing of your choice: Acrylic, Delrin, PEEK, Aluminum, Stainless steel, or Titanium.
  • Antenna, radio transceiver housing and electronics are designed for harsh environment, wide temperature, and humidity range.

Wi-Fi transceiver connects to your asset via single cable to get power and provide 100 Mbps data link (POE technology): MCIL8/MCBH8 connectors. In inline cable 2x twisted pairs are used for 100-BaseT data Tx/Rx and one or 2 pairs for power.

Supply power required for the transceiver: 7W, 12-24VDC IN, consumption 300mA@24VDC or 600mA@12VDC.

Subsea antenna and transceiver can be equipped with connectors: Teledyne D.G.O’Brien 110 series,  Subconn HF50CX series, Rampart RP5 series. Please note that Subconn coax connectors are designed for dry mate only (not open face pressure rated).

Surface based antenna and transceiver can be equipped with cost effective 100m depth rated coaxial cable penetrator, all weather Ethernet cable junction box, outdoor shielded Ethernet cable and Ethernet surge protector.

We have tested antennas in various conditions, installation height, underlying surfaces, lines of sight. In most scenarios we observed stable datalink over 500-600 meters distance of line of sight at 1 m elevation above water surface of each receiving/transmitting side. Please note, that water is highly absorbing substance of Radio Frequency signals (1 GHz and higher). Also, high gain antenna (5dBi and more) is not recommended for to be used on moving and rolling vehicles. This is usually a cause of decreased radio range in the marine type of application: systems “vessel” – “vehicle” as antennas are often leaving effective zone of Fresnel.

For the best efficiency we recommend using same transceivers to work in pair as they will be using proprietary fast data transfer protocol.

Wi-Fi transceivers can be configured to work in bridge, access point or repeater modes. Wi-Fi transceivers in bridge mode are transparent for your network and passing all traffic seamlessly.

Transceivers can be encapsulated into housing to fit your environmental requirements and depth: Acrylic, Delrin, PEEK, Aluminum, Stainless steel or Titanium.
